The story behind the piece
This is the cloth from which everything else begins. Abeni Indigo Studio dyes in full lengths, so ordering several yards gives you an unbroken run of pattern ready for your tailor.
Materials & care
100% cotton. Pre-wash cold before sewing to allow for natural shrinkage of up to 3%. Hand wash cold afterwards and dry in the shade.
How to use it
Ideal for shirts, dresses, wrappers, cushions and light upholstery. Order one extra yard for pattern matching on larger garments.
Shipping & returns
Made and dispatched from Nigeria within 3–5 working days. Delivery times and costs are confirmed at checkout. If your piece arrives damaged or is not as described, contact us within 7 days of delivery and we will arrange a replacement or refund. Because each piece is hand-dyed, small variations in pattern and shade are part of its character and are not considered faults.
Meet the maker
Abeni Indigo Studio works from a courtyard dye house in Abeokuta, where indigo vats are tended daily and every length of cloth is patterned by hand. The studio specialises in eleko, the cassava-starch resist technique, drawing motifs freehand or through cut-metal stencils before the cloth is dipped again and again to build a deep, even blue.
